Tonight was my first ever live gig with a band, and Stereo Arcade at Double Tree Hilton was the perfect place for us to get a response after weeks of rehearsal. Ratish Chadha (drums) , Anthony Mina (bass) , and Eemon Roy (guitar) have all been incredible throughout the process - not just with their obvious musical talent, but more so their commitment and passion to the project, as well as the compassion they have towards their craft. But most importantly, I'm grateful to have found a really genuine group of people whom I can't wait to continue working and developing with.
The theme of the night was 'Funk Music', and our set was as follows:
- I Got To Move - James Brown
- I Wish - Stevie Wonder
- Let's Get it On - Marvin Gaye
- This Love - Maroon 5
The atmosphere while we were performing was immense - a huge thank you to everyone who came out to support and for singing along with us! It's an entirely different feeling playing with a group of musicians - I've quickly learnt that tempo, rhythm and balancing sound are key to a solid live band performance. Fortunately, with the expertise of some great sound engineers paired with the pulse and power of Ratish on drums, we were all set!
The team at TheSoundGaarden must also be mentioned - Zain has really been pushing for the local scene, and nights like tonight are held together in their entirety by his vision and work ethic. I can't wait to be a part of whatever his next crazy idea is, and we'll all do our very best to keep this movement alive and blossoming.
